Meet Mrs. Smith
Hello! My name is Amy Smith and this is my sixth year at Eanes Elementary. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and then moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas where I majored in Applied Learning and Development (aka Early Childhood Education). After graduating in 2009, I married Austen Smith that July. From there, I taught in Round Rock and then accepted a job in the children's ministry at Austin Ridge Bible Church where I worked for 3 years. But my passion has always been helping kids fall in love with learning so when an opportunity opened in 2nd grade I took it and am thrilled to be here at Eanes!
Austen and I live in Lakeway with our 8 year old golden retriever Butter. We have one toddler, Theodore, who turns 2 at the end of August and are smitten with him! Some of my hobbies are shopping, movies with Austen, yoga, summer travels, going surfing on our boat, essential oils, reading the latest in children's literature, and playing silly games with Theodore.

Meet Mrs. Mitchell
I am going to be the long-term substitute for Mrs. Smith while she is out on maternity leave. I am looking forward to this time I get to spend with your precious 2nd graders. I have 4 children who have been fortunate enough to go through the Eanes ISD schools. My son, Dean, is a senior at UT Dallas, my Katie is a senior at St. Edward's University, my Elizabeth is a freshman at UT San Antonio and my Lilly is a sophomore at Westlake High School. I graduated from Christian Brothers University in Memphis with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for 15 years at TI as a semiconductor design and product engineer. I have always wanted to be a teacher so pursued my alternative certification. I have been in education for 10 years. For fun, I spend time with my children. |
